Elva Jean Newton passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 in Tulsa at the age of 80 years. She was a resident of Linwood Village in Cushing.
The daughter of the late Arthur and Elva Richter, Elva was born on February 24, 1929 in Quincy, IL and was reared and educated in Plainfield, Illinois.
She was united in marriage to Richard M. Newton and to this union three sons, Richard, Randall and Robert were born.
Elva was retired from the Will County Health Dept. in Joliet, IL.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading.
Survivors include her children, Richard Newton and his wife Susan of Plainfield, IL, Randall Newton and his wife Linda of Cushing, and Robert Newton and his wife Patricia of Sterling, AK; seven grandchildren, Christina Newton Morrill and her husband Mike of Perry, OK, Jason Newton and his wife Beth of Plainfield, IL, Robert Newton of Brandon, MS, Lori Newton of Brandon, MS, Lori Babich and her husband Matt of Overland Park, IL, Bob McLaughlin of Morris, IL and Scott McLaughlin and his wife Jacque of Joliet, IL; 9 great-grandchildren, Lukus Peery, Caleb Peery, Michael Newton, Zachary Newton, Michael McLaughlin, Ashley McLaughlin, Adam McLaughlin, Liz McLaughlin and Ali McLaughlin, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and one brother Richard Richter.
Services are pending and burial to be held in the Woodland Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer's Research, 825 NE 13th St. Oklahoma City, OK 73104-9930, in her memory.
