Obituary for Ada Deering

Ada Marie Haggard Dunegan Ledbetter Deering entered heaven’s gate on October 11, 2019. Ada was born July 30, 1928 in Council Hill, OK to C.C. (Pat) Haggard and Bessie Mize Haggard. Ada grew up in the Council Hill area with her parents, her brother, Raymond, and sister, Alice.
Ada married Jean-Paul Dunegan in Checotah, OK in 1945 until his death in 1952. They had one daughter, Paula. She married Troy R. Ledbetter in 1954 and they had two children, Steve and Ruth. She married Dale Deering in 1981 until his death in 2001.
Cushing, OK was home for over 60 years. In the early 60’s, she went to work for C.R. Anthony’s in Cushing as the cashier/bookkeeper. In 1980 she started her long career in banking, where she worked for banks in Cushing, Yale, and Pawnee, until her retirement at the age of 81 from Spirit Bank in Drumright, OK in 2009.
Ada loved people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking and baking and any occasion was an opportunity for her to show her love with food. She wanted to help and uplift every person she encountered. She truly believed all things worked together for our good, if we believed and trusted Jesus Christ. Her family and friends believe that to have known Ada was to love her.
Ada was proceeded in death by her parents, Pat and Bessie Haggard; brother Raymond Haggard; sister Alice Haggard Jones; husband’s Jean-Paul Dunegan and Dale Deering; daughter-in-law Cheryl Ledbetter; and stepson Bill Deering.
Ada left behind a large group of family and friends to follow her example and share her Christian faith. Ada is survived by her children, Paula Ledbetter O’Bannion of Cushing, OK; Steve Ledbetter of Cushing, OK; and Ruth Ledbetter Littlefield and her husband Kelly of Broken Arrow, OK. She is also survived by three stepchildren Janie Deering Sylvester, Peggy Deering Campbell, and Tony Deering. Ada was Granny to over 20 grandchildren and Gee-Gee to over 30 great grandchildren and increasing.
Celebration of Ada’s life will be on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church Cushing, 2238 E. Main St. Visitation and viewing will be Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Cushing Building Fund.
