Obituary for Eula McLaury

Eula McLaury, 101, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Golden Oaks Village in Stillwater.
Eula was born on February 21, 1919 in Oxford, Arkansas. Her parents, Perry and Lessie Turner, and their children moved to Oklahoma when Eula was an infant. Her father worked their family farm and her mother tended the home. Eula had happy school day memories of playing basketball and tennis, a sport in which she earned a medal.
Eula met Kenneth McLaury while attending school together at Schlegel, and they were married on May 8, 1938. Kenneth and Eula were lifelong members of the Presbyterian Church in Cushing.
The couple owned and operated a Grade A dairy and worked together in this business for over 30 years. Along with operating the dairy, Eula worked at Hillside School cafeteria and was the manager of the school lunch program for Cushing Public Schools for 15 years. She also worked at Safeway grocery for several years. Later she volunteered with the Payne County Election Board and served with the Payne County Extension Club for which she was awarded a 50-year pin. As you can imagine, cooking holiday meals was one of her favorite traditions, especially Thanksgiving.
In addition to her parents, Eula was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; three brothers, Homer Turner, Harvey Turner and Glenn Turner, and three sisters, Zeffie Turner, Bernice Hatten and Deloris Combs.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Linda and Glenn Evans, Amarillo, TX; Robert and Margaret McLaury, Ardmore, OK; Wallace and Willene McLaury, Stillwater, OK, and Terry and Betty McLaury of Overland Park, KS; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor John Holderread officiating.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Golden Oaks Village of Stillwater for the love, care and compassion they gave to Eula during her time with them.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 a.m. until noon on Friday.
