Obituary for Mae Langston

Mae Langston, longtime Cushing resident, passed away early Sunday morning, May 19, 2019 at the age of 81 years.
The daughter of the late Theodore Tackett and Edith Hulsey Tackett, Mae was born on August 28, 1937 in Konawa, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in that area.
She was united in marriage to Noel “Shorty” Langston on April 14, 1953 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and to this union three children, Mark, Kim and Kelley were born.
The couple came to Cushing in 1971; they owned and operated Langston electric motor service until they retired in September of 1998. Shorty preceded her in death on January 29, 1999.
Mae was an active member of the Oak Street Baptist Church for many years; teaching Sunday school, leading the choir and serving as song leader. She enjoyed singing gospel music and studying her Bible. She loved her family, especially her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Mark Langston of Cushing, Kim Ling and her husband Jerry of Parkland and Kelley Williams and her husband Mark of Cushing; one brother Harold Tackett of Springfield, Missouri; one sister Jean Kirk of Cushing; 6 grandchildren, Josh Maxwell, Heather Landes, Season Callaway, Randi Bradley, Kyle Williams and Eric Williams; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother James Tackett and one sister Dortha Hewett.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oak Street Baptist Church with Reverend George Brock, III, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Harrell Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
