Obituary for Pat Newman

Patsy Kay Frick Newman passed from this life to everlasting life on July 12, 2020, due to a tragic auto accident. They were on their way home from South Dakota following a special weekend with family at their son, Tim’s, wedding.
Pat was born to John and Alta Marie (Gilchrist) Frick on October 23, 1948 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Her family worked hard at dairy farming and farming the soil. Pat was always outside learning how to take care of the cattle and the farm. She continued to do that until she and Bob retired from farming and ranching.
Pat married the love of her life and her childhood friend, Robert (Bob) Allen Newman, on December 24, 1965 at 17 years old. Their loving marriage lasted for 55 years. At a young age, Pat and Bob worked hard and completed degrees from Oklahoma State University while raising their 3 sons. Robert (Rob) Allen, Micheal (Mike) Craig, and Timothy Joe (Tim) were raised in Stillwater, Enid, Tulsa, Dover and Rapid City SD. Pat and Bob always considered Ray Weis as one of their children. Pat and Bob were always involved in their sons’ activities and spent their time attending their sons’ functions. Pat finished her professional career as an administrative assistant in the Oklahoma State University Psychology Department 2018.
Pat loved to cook and was known to others for her homemade chicken and noodles, cinnamon rolls, bread pudding and homemade ice cream.
Anyone that knew Pat, knew she had two sides: she always said what she thought and she was always the first one there to help others.
Pat and Bob were blessed with 5 grandchildren; Cy Wesley, Addison Marie, Logan Alexander, Carina Grace and Juliet Marjorie. Her grandchildren were truly the love of Pat’s life and her world revolved around them. Following Tim’s wedding, they gained 4 more grandchildren; Kyle Matthew Dotter, Kayla Sue Dodd, Devon Douglas Dodd, Kristella Mae June Dodd and 2 great-grandchildren; Cooper Joe Couch and Everett Ryder Couch.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Bob, children, Rob of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Michael and Dana of Neavitt, Maryland, Tim and Margaret of Morrison, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Cy and Kourtney, Addison and Jared, Logan and Shay, Carina and Juliet of Iron Mountain, Michigan. Survivors also include Ray and Lisa Weis of Tulsa, their children, Jakob, Ryan, Garrett, sister-in-law, Marian Gilkerson, of Guthrie, and brother in law and wife, Lyle and Faye of Stillwater. She is survived by one sister, Sherry Hill of Morrison, Oklahoma.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, John and Alta Frick, and her step-mother, Mary Louise, and maternal James and Mary Gilchrist and fraternal grandparents John and Laura Frick, and parents-in-law, Clarence and Marjorie Newman.
Graveside services will be held July 18, 10 AM, at the Glencoe Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 17, from 1-7 PM at Davis Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma. The family requests that attendees wear masks due to the Corona Virus.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glencoe South Cemetery or Morrison First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.
